Play and Save Sharks

Finally! A Facebook game that's actually Good for Something: MyConservationPark links virtual shark  conservation to the real world

Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Toronto, Ontario (July 5, 2011) -Good World Games and United  Conservationists are pleased to announce their partnership in MyConservationPark's new Hammerhead  Shark park, available this month. MyConservationPark is a fun and educational Facebook game that allows players to manage their own marine protected area for sharks, while helping to save sharks in the real world.

There's an abundance of online social games at present but how many games are addressing the world's problems? Enter MyConservationPark, an innovative social game with a green, planet-friendly mission: protecting endangered animals.

In the Hammerhead Shark park, your "hero" must be protected from an ever-growing number of human and environmental threats invading the marine protected area. Enrich your hero's habitat and balance the eco-system by buying native marine flora and fauna. Hire staff like Coast Guards and marine biologists to defend your hero and keep the habitat sustainable. Good World Games donates 15% of players' in-game purchases directly to United Conservationists. Friends can visit each other's parks to help protect and improve each other's conservation habitats.

Gregory Sukornyk, CEO of Good World Games, said: "We are excited to partner with Rob Stewart and the team behind United Conservationists. They have been amazing at bringing awareness to the horrors of shark finning around the world. When players buy virtual goods with real money, they are funding United Conservationists' programs in the real world."

Rob Stewart, Founder of United Conservationists, added: "It's time for new approaches to conservation, and this game is a significant step towards engaging everyone in the protection of species, and showing people how to change the world both online an offline."

You can help sharks too. Try MyConservationPark, the game that Grist.org hails as a "Facebook game that's actually good for something!" Start the Hammerhead park today and support United Conservationists's shark preservation efforts by playing to protect.
