Our History:
In April 2002, photographer Rob Stewart set out to make a film to save sharks. After five years, 12 countries, attempted murder charges, arrests, espionage, corrupt governments, and massive public action, the film Sharkwater was born. What happened next was as inspiring as it was addictive. People around the world rallied around sharks and took action many thought impossible; starting dozens of NGOs, lobbying governments, and changing policy all over the world. Sharkwater resulted in massive change for sharks, brought an incredibly passionate team together, and created United Conservationists, a revolutionary NGO committed to inspiring and enabling the same types of successes on a much broader scale.

Now, UC is positioned to take on a wider range of issues from sharks to tigers to lemurs to ocean acidification. Led by charismatic and bold conservationists like Rob Stewart, Tristan Bayer and Julie Andersen, people around the globe are joining the revolution and becoming United Conservationists themselves.

Every day, United Conservationists movement gains momentum, serving as an inspiration to children and adults all over the world. By educating the public, making conservation cool and accessible to everyone, enabling people to get involved, and showing them how, United Conservationists is literally conservation “for the people by the people.” Who knew conservation could be so rewarding and fun?
In 2012 we will reach another major milestone, and United Conservationists will be featured in Rob Stewart’s upcoming feature documentary, Revolution. Until then, join us to connect with dynamic and passionate conservationists from around the world and get involved in the revolution, whatever your speed!
There has never been a more active population, a more captive audience, a more fragile planet, or the available technology to affect change on as massive a scale as there is today. We will succeed, but we need your help.
